We're proud to be selected as one of the Startups of Tomorrow of Love Tomorrow 2024!

Love Tomorrow is not just an innovation and sustainability conference; it's a celebration of forward-thinking and impactful ideas, hosted on the holy grounds of Tomorrowland and co-organised by Start It @KBC. Every year, 17 start-ups, each representing a different Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), pitch their solution to a vibrant and engaged audience.

Product design: some talking and a lot of listening

What do people care about in a product? Time and again, our discovery interviews revealed a common theme: design matters. Yes, functionality and quality are paramount, but if it’s packaged in the wrong style, they won’t buy it. We heard things like: I don’t want to buy something that looks like it’s made with cheap plastic and I look at the design to see if it would fit my home.

A good design strikes the right balance between timeless and unique. It should seamlessly fit various locations and situations, while still standing out with its distinctiveness. Sustainability is also a key factor: in today's world, people are increasingly aware of the impact of overconsumption and pollution. Durability, repairability, and sustainable materials were the top priorities during this design process.

Let's talk about our journey. After conducting 100+ interviews and gathering invaluable insights, we reached out to industrial product design and development companies. We ultimately choose to collaborate with award-winning Italian design duo fuso design. Their flexibility and mindset throughout the whole project exceeded our expectations.

With their initial design proposals, we then gathered feedback from both familiar faces and new people. At networking events, we were like proud parents whipping out a picture of their newborn.

Of course, just like no one’s child is perfect, the first design was no exception. We received candid feedback like: It feels quite cold and I miss the natural feeling I get with your name. Or: This system looks like it would get stuck easily. We took all these comments to heart, explored Youtube and Pinterest for inspiration, and refined our ideas together with the designers.
